Step
into Manhattan's premiere early learning center and you'll know
that the smallest of children are the first concern here.
This is a center
planned for an intimate group of eight young children: four
infants and four toddlers, where the children are under the care
and guidance of two full-time and two part-time early care and
education professionals. Caring volunteers assist center
staff by rocking a baby, reading to a child, or washing the
lunch dishes.
USDA-approved
lunches and snacks are served family-style to children at
toddler and infant-sized tables. Parents are invited to
come to the center at any time to be part of their child's
day.
The center is
located between Kimball Avenue and Claflin Road on College
Avenue, across from the university football practice
field. It is housed in the College Avenue United Methodist
Church, which offers this center as a mission to families
because excellent infant and toddler care is scarce. The
curriculum is not religious, but a caring, loving environment is
the setting for developmentally appropriate learning and
growing.
The center is
open for care to children from 7:30am to 5:30pm weekdays.
