| Ogden Friendship
House UMC is a mission church supported by the
conference offering opportunities for worship, study, and
personal growth in an at-risk community.
As part of the Kansas East
Conference and the Friendship Cooperative Parish, Ogden
Friendship House has become a visible and vital presence in
Ogden, located eight miles west of Manhattan at the gateway to
Fort Riley.
Ogden is a small town with a
myriad of large needs, for it is home to many poverty-level
families, a great percentage of whom are single women with
young children. Over 85% live in rental housing, mostly
mobile homes. Welfare rolls are large and opportunities
to change the status are limited. There are few jobs in
town with no public transportation. Unemployment is
high. Opportunities for recreation and leisure are
limited. Ogden is a town that calls us to be the church
TOGETHER!
